The Wau Waria District has joined the rest of the country in mourning the passing of the late Minister for Works and Highways and Member for Telefomin, Honourable Solan Mirisim, remembering him as a leader who honoured his commitments to rural development and education.
Earlier this year, the late Minister visited Bapi Village in the Wau Waria District during the ground-breaking and official launching ceremonies of the Morobe–Northern Highway project. During that visit, he made a commitment of K20,000 towards the completion of the remote Bapi Elementary School, recognising the importance of education access in isolated communities.
True to his word, the commitment was fulfilled. On September 6, Wau Waria District Member of Parliament, Honourable Marsh Narewec, formally presented the K20,000 cash contribution to the Head Teacher of Bapi Elementary School on behalf of the late Minister.
District leaders and community members have described the late Hon. Mirisim as a man of integrity whose actions reflected his dedication to improving infrastructure and social services in his District. His support for the Bapi Elementary School stands as a lasting example of his commitment to grassroots development and the future of rural children.
The Wau Waria District MP, Hon. Marsh Narawec extends his heartfelt condolences to the family, colleagues, and constituents of the late Hon. Solan Mirisim, and honours his legacy of service and leadership.
